XXIII Meeting of the ATACALAR Integration Committee
The XXIII Meeting of the ATACALAR Integration Committee took place in the cities of Copiapó and Caldera, on April 10 and 11, 2024, and was chaired by the Director of Borders, Mr. Pedro Pablo Silva Sánchez, and co-chaired by Minister Mrs. Reina Sotillo, Director of Limits and Borders – DILYF – of the Argentinean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This meeting was attended by authorities from both countries, including the Secretary of State for International and Business Relations of the Province of Tucumán, Mrs. Virginia Ávila; the Secretary of the Official Representation and International Relations of the Government of Santiago del Estero, Mr. Bernardo Abruzzese; the Governor of Catamarca, Mr. Raúl Jalil; the Governor of La Rioja, Mr. Ricardo Quintela; the Regional Governor of Atacama, Mr. Miguel Vargas Correa; the Chilean Ambassador to Argentina, Mr. José Antonio Viera-Gallo; and the Director General of ProChile, Mr. Ignacio Fernández Ruiz.
The Director of Borders highlighted the importance of the San Francisco and Pircas Negras border crossings, noting the common interest in their enhancement and offering the permanent disposition of the National Department of State Borders and Boundaries. He also referred to the ports of Atacama and their potential for transporting Argentine products to the Asia-Pacific region, stressing the importance of this committee for binational integration.
