Mars, the next frontier
On May 29, 2024, at the offices of the National Directorate of State Borders and Limits (DIFROL), Professor José Maza Sancho’s exhibition titled “Mars, the Next Frontier” was held. This talk, held in the Bertrand room, was part of the Cycle of Academic Talks organized by the Boundaries Directorate.
A large attendance from DIFROL highlighted this activity, which consisted of a pleasant talk and scientific exhibition, in which Professor Maza offered a detailed tour of the history of man’s arrival on the moon, the possible life on Mars, the cosmic distances and displacements, as well as new technologies aimed at the conquest of space. Additionally, it addressed how astronomy relates to the current challenges of our societies and explored the possibility of human colonization of Mars and the associated challenges.
Professor José Maza is recognized for his ability to communicate complex concepts in a simple and attractive way, bringing astronomy and science closer to society. DIFROL officials were able to appreciate first-hand his passion for education and the dissemination of scientific knowledge, which has served as inspiration to many people, who, based on its influence, have become interested in the cosmos and science in general.
At the end of presentation, the Director of Boundaries, on behalf of the National Directorate of State Borders and Boundaries (DIFROL), gave a symbolic present to Professor José Maza in recognition of his significant scientific contribution, who spoke with those present, and signed the books that the officials brought in large quantities to this activity.
