Maritime spaces refer to the areas of water surrounding a country or an island. These spaces are divided into areas and zones such as the Territorial Sea (TS), the Contiguous Zone (CZ), the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), and the Continental Shelf (CS), each with its own regulations and international agreements. Their width is measured using the normal and straight baselines defined by the country. These spaces have specific rights and responsibilities in these areas, which may include sovereignty, resource control, navigational safety, and environmental protection.
Maritime spaces are represented by a layer of lines with vectorial characteristics, to be downloaded, used and visualized in projects in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software in an shp format.
