DIFROL presents the updated version of the International Boundary in shapefile format.
The Dirección Nacional de Fronteras y Límites del Estado (DIFROL) is proud to present the latest version of the International Boundary of Chile, available in shapefile format and using SIRGAS Chile as reference system, at a scale of 1:50,000.
This new version represents a significant step towards a more accurate and detailed mapping of the international boundary, as it includes updates made from 2020 to the present, following the legal procedures established by the Chilean Boundary Commission and the protocols and agreements with neighboring countries.
The updated layout not only provides reliable geographic information, but also complies with the standards required by the international cartographic community. In addition, it has been carefully coordinated with other geographic information layers, such as the country’s regions, provinces and communes, through the Chile SDI Political and Administrative Division Working Group, in collaboration with the SNIT Executive Secretariat, the Undersecretary of Regional and Administrative Development (SUBDERE), the Military Geographic Institute (IGM) and the National Statistics Institute (INE), to offer a complete and updated view of Chile’s Political and Administrative Division (DPA).
The shapefile format facilitates access and integration of the information in various systems and applications, which benefits researchers, professionals and government entities, as well as any user interested in the geography of Chile.
To access the new version of the International Boundary of Chile in shapefile format, users can download it directly from the website of the National Directorate of Borders and Boundaries of the State (DIFROL) through the following link: https://www.difrol.cl/download/limite-internacional-shape-v_4-0/. It is also available at IDE-Chile.
It should be noted that, although the information is available for use in virtual systems and any support or hosting, users must comply with the legal obligations of requesting review to DIFROL for analysis and authorization of circulation in national territory, with their works and publications in digital and paper.
