The event, which took place from July 22 to 24, was attended by two experienced officials from DIFROL’s Boundary Directorate, who shared their knowledge and experience in the management of boundary issues.
Mr. Juan Pablo Benavides Monsalve, Head of the Department of Boundary Studies, and Ms. Susan Silva Donoso, Cartographer and Commercial Engineer of the same Department, presented, among other topics, a historical review of our organization, legal framework, work carried out jointly with Chile’s bordering countries, analysis of complex practical cases and possible courses of action, as well as interaction with the world of technology and cartographic and geodetic information platforms.
Our representatives made a presentation in the framework of the International Seminar that dealt precisely with the Chilean Experience in the Management of Border Issues, which took place in the premises of MIREX in Santo Domingo, and given that the topic addressed precisely took our country in general and DIFROL in particular as a model to imitate, it was an opportunity to value what we are doing on a daily basis and also to disseminate and share experiences with other peers in Latin America.
Participating in this type of activities, materializes a continuous commitment of both nations to strengthen cooperation and understanding in the management of border issues, promoting the use of advanced cartographic and geodetic tools for the resolution of territorial challenges, as well as the permanent institutional challenge of continuous improvement and dissemination of knowledge that we develop in DIFROL.
