Closing and Plenary Meetings of the Chile-Argentina Mixed Boundary Commission.
Between April 8 and 11, 2024, in the city of Santiago, the Closing and Plenary meetings of the Chile-Argentina Mixed Boundary Commission were held.
The Delegations had the participation, on behalf of Chile, of the President of the Chilean Boundary Commission, Mr. Samy Hawa Arellano, of the delegates Mr. Efraín Olivares Godoy, Mr. Rodrigo Muñoz Guerrero, Mr. Juan Pablo Benavides Monsalve and Mr. Marcelo Luengo Erices, the Secretary of said commission Mrs. Marta Mateluna Ríos and the Second Secretary Mr. Cristián Davis Acosta. For Argentina, the President of the National International Boundary Commission of Argentina, Minister Mr. Gustavo Cristián Bobrik, the delegates Mr. Federico Arpe and Mr. Gastón Javier Berlin, the Secretary Mr. Javier Orlando Ramírez and the Graduate in Cartography Mrs. Macarena Illana López.
On April 8 and 9, the Closing Meeting was held, where the field work carried out during November 2023 and April 2024 was announced by Joint Subcommittees in Section XII (Region of Valparaíso, Chile and the Province of Mendoza, Argentina). Likewise, the preliminary draft of the Work Plan for the 2024/2025 season and the preliminary draft of the Annual Informative Report were prepared.
Between April 9 and 11, the LXXII Plenary Meeting was held, with the aim of approving the reports of the Delegates of the Joint Subcommittees, the Work Plan for the 2024/2025 season, and the Annual Informative Report for the 2022 period. Likewise, an exchange of technical information and comparison of coordinates was carried out.
At the end of these days, the Presidents of both Delegations expressed their mutual congratulations for the excellent work and success achieved, which is also highlighted in the context of the 40th anniversary of the important signing of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship of 1984, all which contributes to the common work of both the Joint Boundary Commission and both countries.
Likewise, they stated that the work for the upcoming 2024/2025 period will be an excellent opportunity to continue along this path of collaboration that has been achieved in the Chile-Argentina Mixed Boundary Commission.
