II Meeting of the Binational Border Facilitation Follow-up Commission with Argentina
On March 19, 2024, in the city of Buenos Aires, the II Meeting of the Binational Commission for the Follow-up of the Commitments assumed in the area of Border Facilitation and Passage Infrastructure between Chile and Argentina was held. The meeting was co-chaired by the Secretary General for Foreign Policy of Chile, Ambassador Rodrigo Olsen; and the Undersecretariat for Issues of the Americas of Argentina, Ambassador Mariano Vergara. The Chilean Ambassador to Argentina, José Antonio Viera-Gallo, was also present, as well as representatives of the National Department of State Borders and Boundaries and the Division of South America of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among others.
On this occasion, different areas of work were addressed, including the survey of the state of the main border crossings, bilateral mechanisms on the matter, and the review of commitments assumed by the parties regarding the operation and modality of attention at the border crossings.
At the end of the meeting, both delegations agreed to hold the III Meeting of this Binational Commission, on a date to be agreed upon through the respective diplomatic channels.
