Boundary Markers

Boundary markers are permanent signs or reference points used to demarcate the borders between two countries. These markers can be made of iron or comprise natural peaks, monuments, pillars or stonewalls. They are physical elements that clearly indicate the location of the boundary. Boundary markers are essential to establish and maintain clear borders and prevent territorial disputes.
Boundary markers are represented by a layer of lines with vectorial characteristics, to be downloaded, used and visualized in projects in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software in an shp format.

1. The Boundary Markers Public Information Layer is intended to provide geographic and locational data for the general public’s knowledge and accessibility.
2. Geographic measurement systems undergo updates and improvements that may impact the data that are transferred to digital viewers. In light of the above, there may be discrepancies with other open sources and, as such, it is a work that must be progressively and permanently updated.
3. The Boundary Markers Public Information Layer should be supplemented with the updated version of the International Boundary available in the same digital repository and, in case of any uncertainties, can be consulted directly with the National Department of State Borders and Boundaries (DIFROL), through our website difrol.gob.cl.

By accessing and using the data layer, the user declares to accept the terms and conditions described above.
