XV Meeting of the Chile-Bolivia border and integration committee
On September 13 and 14, 2023, the XV Meeting of the Chile – Bolivia Border and Integration Committee was held in the city of Arica, chaired by the Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of Chile, Mrs. Gloria de la Fuente, and the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Integration of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Ambassador Benjamín Blanco.
At the opening ceremony, both heads of delegation highlighted the relevance of this fifteenth meeting of the Committee, held after six years, thus resuming the work of this mechanism and reflecting the will to advance in various areas of common interest. In this sense, they highlighted both the advances and the challenges in terms of: infrastructure, energy, connectivity, border facilitation, customs issues, fight against smuggling, migration issues, emergencies, security, disaster prevention, sanitary and phytosanitary measures and tourism. .
They also highlighted the Committee as the central axis for the development of the binational agenda and its border populations, placing special emphasis on the needs of the respective territories
