On Tuesday, December 5, the National Department of State Borders and Boundaries (DIFROL) and Carabineros de Chile signed a Cooperation Agreement on Education.
The ceremony included speeches from Colonel Marcelo Fuentes Yiure, Director of the School for Non-Commissioned Officers of Carabineros, and Ambassador Ximena Fuentes Torrijo, Director of DIFROL, who placed importance on the decision of both institutions to work together.
The agreement – that was signed by Madam Ambassador Fuentes and General Rafael Rojas Agurto, Director of Education, Doctrine and History of Carabineros de Chile – shall enable DIFROL staff members to deliver lectures and teach classes at the School for Non-Commissioned Officers of Carabineros, so as to contribute toward the institutional training in the fields of boundaries, neighborly relations, international traffic/movement, and Georeference topics, among others.
This collaboration initiative began in August of this year with the participation of DIFROL staff members in the classes of the Courses “Special laws and procedures at the border” and “Land orienteering”. On said occasion, Ambassador Fuentes delivered an opening speech titled “The vision of the Chilean State on border issues and the challenges of border integration”.
